Finally Fashion Week has taken place in presence. It was an enormous bless for the city of Milan, since there were planned 173 appointments - 65 runway shows, of which 42 live, 75 presentations, of which 56 in presence and 33 events, of which just 4 online. Everyone who had have doubts on the organisation of Fashion Week, had to change their mind. Designers, journalists, celebrities and influencers have confirmed their preference to come in touch directly with other colleges, brands and new collections, so that they can criticize, praise and take some Instagram's photos.
This season MFW has surprised us with eco-sustainable clothes, return of old top-models, designers’ swap, anniversary’s celebrations, singers and athletes modelling and also extravagant and beautiful outfits worn by people around the city.
The schedule foreseen runway events of Fendi (Kim Jones has directed his first show in presence), Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Armani, Missoni, Ferragamo, Etro, Tod’s, Prada, the unexpected runway show of Fendace (Versace by Fendi, Fendi by Versace) and lots of others.
Firstly, Giorgio Armani has celebrate Emporio Armani 40th anniversary by inaugurating the exhibition called The Way We Are, which tells the story behind the brand and its past, at Armani Silos.
Secondly, Andrea Della Valle with Hogan, according to the manifestations about climate change, have announced the relaunch of the first model of Hogan shoes made with eco-sustainable fabrics.
Moreover, Hugo Boss used a football pitch as a runway and athletes as models wearing miniskirts, stockings and jumpsuits.
Last but not least, here we are talking about the iconic runway show of Fendace. Kim Jones and Donatella Versace decided to surprise us with something that had never been seen before. They switched their roles and designed two collections based on their visions about each other’s brand.
To join them, the two designers have invited dearest friends and loyal models such as Naomi Campbell, Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti with Adut Akech and Anok Yai, Kate and Lila Moss with her diabetes machine, Paloma Elsesser and others.
All in all, this season Milan Fashion Week has amazed everyone, from fashion lovers, to simple celebrities' followers. It made us fall in love with every single collection and outfit. Let’s hope it will continue like that.
FOCUS ON FINANCIAL ASPECTS
Apart from art and creativity, financial advantages are related to this is annual event. Federalberghi Milano estimated around 10 thousands guests in the city, mainly from European countries, resulting in 5 stars hotel occupancy between 60% and 70%. However, pre-pandemic outcomes are far away. MFW, after the decrease incurred last year (-24%), might support the recovering of fashion revenues, estimated in about 83 billion euros (+21%).
